John Latham is a member of Alston & Bird LLP Securities Litigation and Capital Markets Groups. He counsels numerous public companies on corporate governance and disclosure matters and represents issuers, officers, directors, accountants, underwriters and broker-dealers in securities disputes. John has served as Special Counsel to a number of public companies in connection with special investigations on behalf of those companies. He has represented clients in a variety of regulatory matters, including proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York Stock Exchange, the National Association of Securities Dealers, the State Securities Commissions in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina, the Office of Thrift Supervision, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Justice Department. John has also served as an expert witness in both civil and criminal federal securities actions. In addition, he has been appointed Special Assistant Attorney General, State of Georgia Teachers and Employees Retirement Fund (1998) (securities matters); Advisory Member, Board of Directors (2000) for the National Association of Corporate Directors, Atlanta Chapter; and member of the 2001-2002 Georgia Corporate Code Revision Committee.
